The Sun And The Poet Poem by Anjali Mandokhot

The Sun And The Poet

Rating: 5.0

'Like an unsung warrior
I tread across the earth
From one country to another
Spreading light sans mirth

Or so I feel,
When I see their backs towards me
Oh someone please heal
The desire that burns me,

To be loved like those
Who shine when I burn.
I rent my flames,
Yet nothing do I earn.

But the tenant of my light
Is dearer to their hearts
Reigning their fantasies
While lonely I dart'

So moaned the sun
On a cold winter day
Heard by a poet
Standing ashore a bay.

Who smiled and entreated
'Welcome O! Lord,
Inaugurate the celebration
Light the life my lord

Let the birds chirp their trumpets
Waking the buds into flowers
Let the rivers dance in mirth
As you sprinkle them with stars

You lead and we follow
In awe, towards our dreams
An aura of energy surrounds
Nearer to destination each traveller seems

Like dewdrops you've melted
Lunatic illusions of illogical mind
Like mist the darkness has settled down
And fears left, far behind.

So embraced, in your warmth
I walk towards my destination
In thoughts trying to touch you
With eyes closed in gratification

Listen O! My leader,
O! consistence personified
O! Time and its measurer
We lived as you smiled'

So smiled the sun
Spreading life at every tread
And smiled ever speck
For spring was ahead.
