The Social Butterfly Poem by Danusha Marie

The Social Butterfly

Wistful whims and joyful dalliances
Were childlike ways
A carefree indulgence
Skipping stones
Lusty romances

Open minded with a guarded heart
Meaningless connections
Selfish explorer
Using chances
Love had no part

Now wounded and lonely existence
Weathered spirit
Tired to the core
Wasted decades
For my resistance

The truth not daring but wrapped in fear
All empty memories
Superficial exchanges
No broken heart
And no one near

The social butterfly has faded wings
Risky behavior past
Tethered emotions
Calculated endeavors
A hallow life now brings
