Play funny games
Battle for billing
Fear or logic
Excuses by many names

Desires rise from within
Tempered by reason
For love is lofty
A distraction
Responsibility’s treason

Borders placed so carefully
To protect this life
To stay on track
Goals and focus
Emotions will only bring strife

But is that really love
Taking like a leach
Draining energy
So demanding
Moving dreams out of reach

What is selfless
And wants you to win
Soft place to fall
Supportive believer
