Let Me In Poem by Danusha Marie

Let Me In

The heart and mind
Play funny games
Battle for billing
Fear or logic
Excuses by many names

Desires rise from within
Tempered by reason
For love is lofty
A distraction
Responsibility’s treason

Borders placed so carefully
To protect this life
To stay on track
Goals and focus
Emotions will only bring strife

But is that really love
Taking like a leach
Draining energy
So demanding
Moving dreams out of reach

What is selfless
And wants you to win
Soft place to fall
Supportive believer
I, if you would let me in
