The Secret Of Music Poem by Abbie Jensen

The Secret Of Music

The Secret of Music

When I sit down to play my piano,
suddenly nothing else matters
I forget about the homework i have due
Or the test I have to study for
It becomes just me and the black and white keys
I don't just feel the music, it is much deeper than that
I become the music

I start to play,
Feeding the emotion into my fingers
I let the worries roll of my back
And the insults vanish
I let each key I push
Become the beating of my heart
I let every dynamic change
Become the way I breathe
I let the sweet, sweet melody
Become part of my soul, never to leave
I let each mistake
Become never known, out shadowed, gone
When the song comes to an end,
Ever so softly
I can hear the piece that I just played,
Echoing around me.
I hear it when I close the piano
The keys that I pushed are now my footsteps
The dynamic changes are now the way I speak
The sweet melody plays over and over in my head.

The secret to playing so beautifully,
So emotionally
Is to have the music,
Never, ever leave your mind
You let it become part of you.
