The Prodigal Son Poem by Randy McClave

The Prodigal Son

Jesus talked about the prodigal son
Who returned to his father after a long run,
And how excited and proud was the father to see his lost son again
Even though he spent his inheritance and lived a life of sin.
The father prepared his returning son a great meal
He slew the fatted calf with great joy and zeal,
A love had returned that he thought he'd see no more
When he saw his returning son from his own back door.
He screamed and shouted what was lost is now found
To the world he released a happy sound,
The father then fell and gave his son a kiss on his cheek
Love and forgiveness and joy is all the father could speak.
All fathers are jubilant when their child returns
No matter of their scars or of the stitches or of their burns,
We welcome them readily back into our home
Hoping never again with they stray, or get lost or roam.
A father's love for us does not depend on our faithfulness
We none can ever out-sin God's forgiveness,
Even when the prodigal son admitted to both
A fathers love to their children is always the ultimate oath.
For all sins God will always forgive
In his Heavenly realm with him he wants us to live,
As the father welcomed home the prodigal son in the tale
In Heaven, God awaits his lost children in his house as well.
