The President Said Poem by Rafik Romdhani

The President Said

Said said.
What did he say?
"Medical City
To be launched" on Aghlabid soil we all tread
Rakada itself was the medicine when a prince
Went ill and mad
In time of test it was the best
A real fellow, a royal pillow to have some rest
Medical dream
For queens and kings and for the city
Peace of mind and house of mind
Farwell to ills; Rakada's ruins are my pills
The soul listens; life sings and goes tweety
Sings for you, sings for me and for the city
Songs bury moans; beget seduction
Halt time's waters; Fly history's wings

Kais Said.
What did he say?
"Medical city is no promise"
It's more like a dream to materialize
And see alive with your own eyes
Dream is to find a way through Man's dramas
Rakada is here and kairouan is here
As oldest mamas
"Medical city is no promise, "
The president said.
The present is no promise either
It' s here and now and whatever.
Geography 'n history are both twins born to life
How come you dare dry their dream that little selves seek to knife
Geography and history cannot be separatedand taken apart like a heart from a knight
Space and time and the tweeting of curlews
Stir my thinking about Rakada; win my verse and never lose.
Said said.
What did he say?
He said a word (Rakada)
And a man's word -dear folks- is his bond.
