Oleander Poem by Rafik Romdhani

Oleander

Poison in your sapruns by strange undertow
You sucked all ashes, invaded soils and Suns
So that roses bloom fom coffins of bitterness
Like miracles from candless dark come to go

Oh, Oleander
I can't help but wonder!

Why your roses are on the counter of breezes
They sway to eyes that never weigh their sight
The moon's heart is eaten up, its teeth on edge
You fired its jealousy, itplayed with all clouds
That 'hide and seek' game in a celestial sludge

Oh, Oleander
What is life to you?

No secret ever like you, rose from sour foliage
I taste Baudelaire's"Flowers of Evil" with wrath
I wipe my lips on pure honey yet honey freezes
O' my Oleander, no plant is bitterer than you
The hungriest animals would starve to death than mulch a single Leaf, your poison to dodge

Oh, Oleander
Tell those who milk their rose

Tell those who to the sky raise a dreamy nose
you special-scented Rosebay, those bees feed
On your nectar, die for a while in your shade
Tell themBaudelaire and bees were not wrong
Maybe you're the one able to make gates close
On both devils and angels, on scars and stars!
