The Power Poem by Aaron Finkel

The Power

Don’t underestimate the power of the flower
Disclosing its bounty of delectation
You need not see it
To know that it is there
Caressing your fatigued toes
As they mingle with the Earth
You question the sense, wondering “how”, “why”
It has been so long since your last rendezvous
You cry “CEASE! I must return to my work.”
The flower cries “so must I”
It proceeds on with its pampering
You ask “where have you been all this time”
Petals sparkling, she responds
“Silly! I never left”
“Incorrect! I haven’t seen you since birth”
“Alas, you never looked…”
