A Real Issue For Our Academics Poem by Aaron Finkel

A Real Issue For Our Academics

Find “X”.
It’s a minute demand
with gargantuan implications.
“X” could be here or somewhere far away.
“X” could be something special, or someone overlooked.
“X” could be inside, or outside.
“X” could be blue, or green.
It’s actually a very tedious entity,
consistently obscured by the nebulous labyrinth that is the mind.
Many have tried to find “X”.
And quite a few have succeeded.
Try Euclid. Try Pythagoras. Try you.
You’ve found an “X”.
They’ve found an “X”.
But is it the THE “X”?
What is THE “X”?
Where is THE “X”?
Will we ever find THE “X”?
Should we care about THE “X”?
Since we are now questioning the very fabric of “X”
Isn’t it smart to assume we haven’t found “X”,
if there is an “X”?
