The Poetry Is... (2) Poem by Edwin Ellis

The Poetry Is... (2)

21. Like food
when it is ready
but still burning.

22. Like a dress
difficult to wear,
more difficult to remove.

23. Like a curtain
which conceals and transcends,
which prevents and facilitates.

24. Like a child
waking up crying
and seeks his mother.

25. and find no one,
he sucks his finger
and dream of her.

26. such as thumb sucking,
already old and sick
to blow up the ego.

27. like blood in the snow,
tears of blood,
fire in the veins.

28. like a skull
who scolds teeth
adorned with flowers.

29. like an idiot
recognize an imbecile
and become friends.

30. like a public lie
to save the truth
in private.

31. like a shopping list:
showcase of alcohol and drugs,
melancholy, phobias, misanthropy,

32. paranoia, cynicism,
obsessions, fetishism,
melodramas and other offers.

33. the self-pity section
have 50% discount
for Mother's Day.

34. and do not forget to go
through the corridor of love and peace
and wear a hang-rope.

35. we accept visa and megalomania,
if you bring a perfect sonnet
will receive discount coupon.

36. like a chewing gum,
you have to stretch it
with prologues, comments,

37. jokes, arguments,
refutations, indications,
explanations, epilogues,

38. covers, presentations,
tributes, anthologies,
reviews, scandals and quotes;

39. and when it is insipid,
in coma and tasteless,
spit it in a pot,

40. stick it under a table
or put it together with other gums
as a masterpiece.
