The Other Side Of Love Poem by Nicola Thoner

The Other Side Of Love

Swollen redness on your lips

Your kisses fade like

ash in my mouth

With all my heart

I am elsewhere.

Not wanting to be here

but left with nothing else.

Not even enough breath

left in my lungs to sigh.

I turn my head

and forget my body

Kisses, an automatic motion

Touch, a dead caress

masquerading as love

Pretending

that life isn't just made of this

that the passion hasn't been cut from my every pore

Forcibly removed

and left to whither on the bedspread
