The One That Got Away Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

The One That Got Away

Remembered those times when I cried tears
Listening to the radio and that one song would play
and the words reflected what I felt on the inside
That's the road I'd go down, baby, i'm missing you

every little bit hurts
each day that goes by gets worse
I never imagined a future without you
guess at the time I never expected to
There is nothing I won't do
to find myself right back with you

when I would
be over at your house
watch movies
sit there on your couch

and you would
wrap your arms round me
keeping me warm
on them cold winter nights
and when you cooked that meal
You put the moves on my heart
it given me something I can feel
it let me know your love is real

looking into your eyes I seen your desire
to offer me the world on a silver platter
and the moment there after
A spoon full of food as a romantic gesture
would find it's way to my lips
you persist I could not resist

this love was nothing ordinary
didn't trust it, it was scary
but with you was the safest place
that had given me the sweet escape

I remember the way you loved me
Don't know how i've lost it all
and baby i can't last another day
living life without your love
you're the one that I let get away
