The Old Man In Our Street Poem by Jesus Diaz Llorico

The Old Man In Our Street

'I have seen him
the old man
years ago
with a quick smile
and easy to talk to attitude
always taking
an afternoon walk
in our street

when I went back
to my work
in another country
I left this place
once again
and returned
a few months back
to stay for good

as I walked the street
these past few days
I waited for him
to pass me by
but it never came
I was told
he already passed away
just a year ago

when you are old
and slow to move
no one seems to care
at least for now
someone is waiting
in my afternoon walk
to see me smile
and some nice talk.'
