The Odd One Out Poem by Raaghavi SudhaGenga

The Odd One Out

Fed and nurtured in the same place
Yet kicked out when started to sing,
How does it feel to be the odd one out?
Ask the cuckoo exiled from the crow's nest.

Taunted and scorned by own kin
Before realizing what was happening,
How does it feel to be the odd one out?
Ask the Ugly Duckling in your book.

Placed 'out of time' and quite erratic
While blooming yet withering soon,
How does it feel to be the odd one out?
Ask the lily inside a lotus pond.

Once adored and well watched over,
Now scorned but mostly ignored,
How does it feel to be the odd one out?
Oh, hell, just ask me once.
