Raaghavi SudhaGenga Poems

“Good night my child”, she said,
Whispering softly in my ear.
The pale pink curtains flutter’d
And waved from the windows near.
...

Fed and nurtured in the same place
Yet kicked out when started to sing,
How does it feel to be the odd one out?
Ask the cuckoo exiled from the crow's nest.
...

There he goes, moving slowly
And so lonely before me;
Both walking under the canopies
Of saffron clouds and golden trees.
...

Lost in the depth of twilight
Where dreams become my only light;
Shuddering truths shadow the world
With cruel claws and jaws that hold
...

The stars have come down
To Earth, to dissipate the woe,
And towns in their glow do drown.
Gathering under the mistletoe,
...

Bathing in the moonlight
She laid on her bed
With O Fortuna playing beside.
Her thoughts rose and fell
...

I'm a girl
Who's broken beyond repair
And my armoured heart
Is dented and split now.
...

Warriors from Warriors they are made -
When the brightest rays of sun do fade
Into the darkest nights of need -
Imbibing the knights' voices that lead.

My Eternal Sleep

“Good night my child”, she said,
Whispering softly in my ear.
The pale pink curtains flutter’d
And waved from the windows near.
The eerie night is approaching
With its icy cold fingers searching
For an easy victim to smite
And I lay here to gladly invite
The cold numbness that’ll soon
Creep ov’r my body and sweep
Me away with no pain. A boon
It is, to plunge into this eternal sleep.

I watch them rushing inside
To mourn for my abrupt demise
For at last, I see no pain beside
The one I suffer’d… The cruel choice
Of my fate has won finally
And here I lie, sleeping eternally.
Now, the dawn comes as night’s gone
So here they come one by one;
I watch their frown’d faces as they come
And lay those flowers on my dearest bed.
I know what the tiny roses will become
For they too, tomorrow, like me be dead.

A jolt of pain strikes me, as I see it-
His face amidst them, weeping
And shedding tears on my unfortunate
End; I smiled, ‘cause mine had no beginning.
Everything I’d felt was all mine to blame,
Since his heart was unlike mine set aflame.
Mine burned in agony for his acceptance,
Wish I hadn’t shown first that reluctance.
His lips twitching in pain, he uttered
His undying love for me. I sighed.
Ironic it is now, ‘cause I, myself, am dead.

He burst out in the middle and shuddered,
And I swelled with some unknown joy;
His poor eyes were teary and had turned red,
Yet I’m happy for not being his mere toy.
I loved him, and he too had loved me by;
Had I known it before, I would’ve given a try
To stop fate giving me such excruciat’ng state
What can I do now? It’s all too late.
Here comes the carriage to fetch me away,
To hell or heaven, fear not I do.
A jolt of pain hits me again as I go far away
From him. But I’ve heard what I wanted to-
“I love you my dear. Come back for me, please...”
