The Night The Devil Came To Town Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

The Night The Devil Came To Town

Rating: 4.0

It was a night of music in the air
...Even God Bless America was sung by the crowd
It seemed that this country music concert was blessed
.....That is 'til blasts struck out large & loud- -

At first thought it was just fireworks...
...For what else could it possibly be?
But open eyes saw the bullets raining down
.....Soon blood and bodies were all many could see.

The concert goers began to run for their life...
...But for far too many it was already too late-
For the shooter had calculated the distance & speed
.....Thus deciding upon many innocents fate.

One wonders what kind of evil could spur this man on
...No motive it seems - just a drive to kill...
To snuff out the lives of so many young innocents
.....Became the shooters absolute will.

He planned on fighting it out to the end
...Proven by what was found in his room...
October 1,2017 brought forth the Devil himself
.....Lashing out to bring utter devastation and doom!

A massacre of the vilest was set in motion that night...
...By a secretive psychopath filled with sheer wrath-
He had clearly laid out his plans of attack
.....And made a near perfect bullet path...

Las Vegas, Oh, Las Vegas
...You're Strong and shall never stand down...
But remember - we will -
.....When the Devil came to town! ! !

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Susan Williams 07 November 2017

There is no understanding the heart that is full to the brim and overflowing with malice, ill will, hatred, and arrogance except to say it was given over to the Devil years and years ago and when the Devil rules, heartlessness rules as his side.

You are correct, Susan. Believe that the Devil had a big role in the lives of Stephen, his brother Bruce, and his dad....he was in that family and stayed in that family....the psychopathy (is the devil) just look at Stephen's cold dead eyes... he had no soul, Susan. Thank you for taking the time to comment, dear one.
