The Monster Poem by Justin Gildow

The Monster

Meeting face to face with the monster
He hasn't exactly left the lab
But I can tell he's not in a good mood to see me
As he wants to do battle with me

Silently and slowly walking his way towards me
He throws potions from his jacket
A green potion that explodes into fireballs falling
from above
Ready and wanting to rain down on me
A pink potion that causes a flame to cover a small
part of the area
And a white potion that creates a doppelganger
to mimic his own actions

Using fancy footwork
And attacking when I can
I turn the tide of the battle in my favor

With one final blow
Potions break, crack, leak, and explode all over
the monster
Bringing him down

The monster's defeated
And once again
There's solace for me
