The Lonely Humble Star



My tired limbs guided me to my bed,
My worries plans and all their weight.
Shifted to my pillow from my head,
I was lying but began thinking straight.

From my window there was only one star,
I could see,
Perhaps the only one which,
Bothered to twinkle for me.

It was much greater than it did show,
Like fellow humans
Those whom we do not know.

Just big enough for my eye to behold,
So that to talk to it I wouldn't have to be too bold.

I conversed with it for a while in my mind,
Without worrying about my appearance or kind.

I am grateful as just for me,
It diminished its glory and with humility,
Reduced itself to a speck in the sky,
Which calmed and enriched my eye.

Then slowly like curtains my eyelids fell,
And hid the humble lonely star.
Which for the sake of my peaceful sleep,
Chose not to come close but enrich from far...
