Pursuit Of The Sun Poem by Sameer Daniel Gardner

Pursuit Of The Sun

He always knew that it was up there,
Though bathed in its light he did not care.

His eyes looked everywhere,
On this earth,
For a place to rest,
But could not found the reason behind his birth,
Or which ambition suited him the best.

One day his eyes looked up at the sun,
And no other light seemed the same.
His heart and he were one,
And touching the sun became his aim.

His friends, his family and all he had achieved,
Did not seem to agree,
He did not try to make them see,
Instead left them all,
They too were free.

After a long period of passionate perseverance,
And many a try,
He learnt to fly.

He stretched his hands and touched the sun,
Alas! the fire burnt his fingers,
But the fire in his heart knew that he had won,
And that did not let the pain linger.

No one will ever know his name,
As being famous was never his aim.

His hands still felt the burning sensation,
As he moved towards his next ambition.....
