When the clouds arrived it didn't rain but it poured,
With dozers and chainsaws they relentlessly tore.
The foothills and lakeside was razed to the ground,
In a very short time nothing much was left around.
Then roads were built and the construction began,
And when space became tight they reclaimed land.
Now it's a lake resort the tourist brochures say,
Buy a ticket and the theme park is yours to play.
Off the main highway will quickly get you there,
Right down to the lakeside there's a parking square.
But long you'll not stay with children noising loud,
And with clamorous vendors added to the crowd.
And the mighty forest that once was home to all,
Can hardly be discerned far from the lake's shore.
The birds and mammals have long left the stage,
Leaving wretched creatures peering from a cage.
Fishes are still in numbers but only in the farms,
Waste from their feed causing the lake much harm.
Around a rubbish dump were a dozen raucous crows,
Along with some rats that were scurrying to and fro.
Every now and then a noisy jet-ski would appear,
Only giving way when the tourist boat draws near.
The lakeside and whatever left lies tinged with oil,
Man's insatiable greed has erased nature's toil.
We are cutting the forests that reduced the rains, in fact we are taking a slow poison.
Around a rubbish dump with the muse of the land; affect by human activities. Nice piece.
This often happens everywhere! The greedy men are hunting for sources to make money! Thus forests are cleared and and hills are razed down. In the place of forests, concrete jungles arise! The quiet places are turned into buzzing industrial estates and the air and the water sources are polluted! Only a few Nature lovers grieve while the money minded people rejoice! Beautifully pictured the modern trends of assaulting Nature in the name of development!

I would like to translate this poem
my favorite-unfavorite lines, so far: The birds and mammals have long left the stage, Leaving wretched creatures peering from a cage. Fishes are still in numbers but only in the farms, Waste from their feed causing the lake much harm. has Part 2 come true? The lakeside and whatever left lays tinged with oil, Man's insatiable greed has erased nature's toil.............probably lies tinged, but, hey, great lines! but WAIT! After the trees have been cut down, and lake drainage caused you a frown, Nature will get the last laugh at Mankind. Volcanoes will erupt; NO more 'men' will you find! bri :) : (? this shall join Part 2 in MyPoemList.
