The Gift Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

The Gift

Rating: 4.8

I stand alone
Lost in my thoughts.
Think of all the people
I've loved quite a lot.

People who came
Into and shared my life.
Ones who made me laugh.
Brought warmth to cold nights.

So many have passed
While I just carry on.
Never thought my life
Would have lasted this long.

Each time they go
I hurt a little more.
Sharing my love
Has become such a chore.

I'll close my eyes.
Rest for a bit.
While my heart beats on.
And I live with this gift...LIFE!

I like how you say, 'I'll close my eyes and rest for a bit. ' I feel that. Poeple who have broken my heart or died or left really can upset me and this actually cheered me up. Thank you

I truly like this one Lawerence. So real, I feel it. Life is a gift; and you are a gift to us who love your way with words. Bravo.
