The Final Chapter Isn't Yet Written Poem by Mark Heathcote

The Final Chapter Isn't Yet Written

The final chapter isn't yet written
There is always time for revision
Whatever blunders are unbidden
The answer is just an apparition
It's a useless wraith-like algorithm.

Life's an obstacle course of mistakes
If I fail, I still have more options
my destiny is my own to shape.
Can you picture my expectations?
And what I have left in provisions.

Each dilemma is an adventure,
I'll pick myself up and survive
Of that, there's no imminent danger.
Each day, we ultimately derive
A loving sense we're all still alive.

I ask myself how did it come to this
Evil is a demon who doesn't surrender
It's hiding to hoodwink, send you amiss
But wracked with guilt, you remember
Every star is distant, but it's sure stellar.
