The Duty And The Destiny! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Duty And The Destiny!

The tiny town of Bethlehem had destiny foretold,
That stretched beyond Jerusalem, that city to behold,
Where duty met the Son of God, outside the city wall,
As Jesus shed each drop of blood to gain a miracle.
The Son of David sacrificed, so sinless and so good,
Upon the holy Cross of Christ, as John and Mary stood.
Where soldiers gambled for Christ's robe they counted having worth,
Lord Jesus suffered without hope for each lost soul on Earth.

But God gave hope upon that day, as one thief showed respect,
That Paradise was on its way, despite this day's neglect.
Lord Jesus promised that poor man upon his cross as well,
Take heart, though death comes when it can, your death won't lead to Hell.
Death has its destiny, that's true, yet Jesus is the Lord,
To bless the Gentile, and the Jew, beyond faith's great reward,
Such that God resurrects the dead, for greater destiny!
And all because Christ's blood was shed, right there, at Calvary!
