The Disease Poem by Lynette Dias Gouveia

The Disease

Rating: 5.0

The disease crept silently
It took over my thoughts
It eroded me and left me cruelly
Depressed and stupid

Gone the wisdom of perseverance
In came irrational doubt
And I lie in self pity
Emotional and foolish

Everything floats in darkness
People don’t feel right
And trust slips in the distance
Steadily and slowly

And I wander in ruthlessness
With this disease that destroys me
Eating away my mind
Gradually and patiently

Self confidence can help to fight any disease. The rest is in the hands of God. Doctor can only give medicine, but if the patient is not strong mentally, curing is very much delayed. Very nice and thougt provoking poem.
