The Dark Night Poem by shakil ahmed

The Dark Night

The Dark Night

The sun is setting in the western sky
The sky is getting gloomy and dark
From far away sky, I clearly hear
The shrill cry of a home-bound lark
Tired horses are retreating to stable
After their day-long weary labor
Small boats, that are sailing in the sea
Finishing their days course returning to harbor
The ominous owls are flapping wings,
With all its might, in the dark sky
The lonely traveler, searching a safe abode
With pounding heart, is passing by
At that moment, she has come humming a tune
In a very slow but melodious tone.
She is rollicking with joy and mirth
When everything is about to moan
When no sign of joy is far and near
From where she has got plenty of joy
In a world full of pain and agony
Probably, she has got her lover boy
Life is full of pall of sadness
Where happiness comes like spark of light
Love is that light which dazzles life
In the midst of dark and gloomy night.
