The Chase Poem by CAROL HUGHES

The Chase

Rating: 5.0

Loneliness chases after
As I run ahead
Away from the blues

As fast as my running shoes
Will take me
Around the corner
Down the road I fly

With the wind behind
And no hills to climb
Loneliness chases after
Loneliness chases after
And catches me

Boy! Carol certainly has a unique and simple way of describing something so meaningful, deep, and complex. Looking forward to reading more of your poetry. The next time, I hope you're able to outrun the blues. Are those Nike shoes?

How you run the chase is more important than the momentary capture. Running can be a very individual activity, but it seems you know how the chase the blues away. Your poem sure did it for me. Made me want to take a victory lap.

For me it's more depression than loneliness. But then I'm married.

Loneliness is the faster then all of us. And catches each of us eventually. A short but nice poem about a soulful human condition.

Loneliness - Simply a perceived state of mind.....self induced through periods of prolonged idleness! Nothing better than a quiet.........walk.........alone..........somewhere.........
