The Casualty Poem by Ana Podarevska

The Casualty

I want you to be the casualty I'll never remember again
I want our goodbye to be what you remember every day.
Just spill your regrets and I will spill mine,
We both know their meanings are pointless, you don't really care.
You can't change the past.
I'll act like I'm fine and I've been all along.
I'll act like I'm not scared to death of being all alone.
I want you to be the casualty I'll never remember again.
I want our goodbye to be what you remember every day.
In a perfect world you'd hit the floor and beg for God's forgiveness,
Because you know you'll never get mine.
