The Castle Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

The Castle

Rating: 5.0

It's a sanctuary of shadow's
......This castle of black
Where the Raven oft' calls...
And sane minds crack;

A place of nightmares unvanquished
Where broken hearts bleed lovers names
Where the wind eerily blows through the trees
And black and white are the same;

A place where strange moan's reverberate
It echo's off of the walls
Where screams of horrific pain blast
Down the cold marbled halls;

Where skeleton's dance in closet's
And ghost's haunt the bath
The lore is that it is the wraith of Oberon
Come back to unleash his wrath;

The doors all open and close by themselves
While shutters slam shut on their own
Where dirges of music flow through the rooms
And the un-dead, oft' times, love to roam;

It's a place that Vampire's oft' claim
While the count plans many a meal
There are hundreds of bats in the belfry
And yes, they are real;

Blood drips from the chandelier's
Near the Black Widow's nest...
It's a sanctuary of many lost shadows
If you're not careful - you'll be it's
