The Best Thing Poem by Apuna Rato

The Best Thing

A glance over the road we traveled
Flashes myriad silvery memories.
Those shy looks and the sweet smiles,
Yeah silence spoke sweeter than words.
The first tasteless tea and the laugh;
The romantic sunset and the first touch
And the endless waiting for holidays.
The love and the deceivers' tale;
The tears and the comforts
I saw the best comforter in you.
You are my Angel, my best thing.
We've come so far
But the best is yet to come.

Our love grew with each new day
And the gossip aired each new night.
Like the devastating waves of flood
Washing away the castle of ants and
Leaving at the mercy of watery beings,
Madness and jealousy invaded our love.
But quick were we to seize the time to heal
And see, we've triumph over all evils.
Halleluyah! Nothing could shake our love
And I love the way we are
But the best is yet to happen.

Now my spirit is lifted high
And taking me to the next world,
The world of family life,
Whence we shall breathe under a roof
And share the bed, our most-talked about desire,
Loving, caring and motivating each other.
The children, the God's greatest gift,
Their aroma and the first word.
How beautiful our life would be.
There, we'll work and grow old together.
Oh such a pleasant thought.
God! I love these feelings
And I can't wait to live with these best things.
