That Well Poem by Eric Mwenda

That Well

I need that well
Not that rivers and rain
have ran dry
nor am i dying of thirst
but cause its waters
must be sweet.
I don't need the tip
but that
and all rest lying below

I need that well
to grease my joints,
to swim like i never did before
or simply just sit in it
and beg it swirls around me
taking me closer home.

I want that swim
to unite as one
in rhyming strokes and shoves
retreating and advancing.
Let the perspiration
ran unchecked

One can cheat the thoughts
or veil the eyes,
I can do that,
but every drop in my system
bubbles and flatters
awakening the demon below
when that shadow
crosses my sight.
Allow me that swim
that the beast may retire again
and drive me not insane

And dear,
should you say no
vibrate,
let what falls remain down
don't pick it up
least you tortore
a tortured soul
