That's Just The Way I Remember You Poem by Edwina Reizer

That's Just The Way I Remember You

So much time has gone by. Do you know I still cry?
I can talk to myself, but I can't tell you why.
I need to see you in my memory,
feel you in my night. That's just the way I remember you.

The sound of your footsteps as you walked through my door,
I can hear how you breathed like when I heard you before.
I need to take it really slow, never let my memory go.
That's just the way I remember you.

I could skip to the chase but I could never erase
all the little things that tug at my heartstrings.
I could tell you my dreams but I could never hide
all the things I feel that tug at my heartstrings inside..
That's just the way I remember you.

You can't answer the whys and all the stars in the skies,
every single one just brings me a heartache.
I can't send you away and forget for just one day
about all those little things that still tug at my heartstrings.
But I won't forget. No, I can't forget.
That's just the way I remember you.
