That Boat Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

That Boat

Many with their mouths open,
Have missed the boat.
Either not to notice it.
Physically docked in the water.
Or thought it to be something else.
To imagine while it floated.

Now with their ears and eyes,
Open wide to hear with mouths closed.
That boat to have floated,
Has gone from them to go!
Leaving them left upset,
And out of breath yet arguing...
Amongst themselves to blame and accuse,
Someone not there.
To claim should have made them aware.

But still they stay to remain that way.
Attempting to convince each other,
How it was no one there heard to hear...
What they should have known.
Long before that boat was built.
Telling them to prepare for its arrival.
Where they could expect it to be.
The size of it with pictures to describe.
Although...
No one can explain to admit,
Why there were some who boarded that boat.
And many amongst them missed it.
