Tears On The Pillowcase Poem by Jennifer Hartzell

Tears On The Pillowcase

I remember the night
when my world seemed alright
you promised we would grow old together
that there would be an 'us' forever

My tears stain the pillow case
as i try to erase
the pain aside
but it eats inside

to know that when we are old
that you wont be there to hold
me in your arms and dance
like when we where young and full of romance

that the flame would never die out
and with out a doubt
you would be next to me
for all eternity.

What happened to that vow
that was upheld till now
to never hurt my heart
that you promised from the start

Why do these tears stain my cheek
how did my life become so bleak
you left and took everything I was with you
please God give me a clue

on how im supposed to live
and manage to forgive
myself for letting him go.
