Tears Poem by Jennifer Hartzell

Tears

From the deepest depths of the river,
comes the ever-abiding life
that will not let go
that will not end.
From the deepest levels of Hell,
that will not let my soul go,
rises something that I cannot beat.
I hope that it will leave me alone,
But all it does is torture my life.
Something that comes from my own eyes.
That runs down my face
making me a disgrace
The thing I hate most
comes from my own body,
my tears.
