! ! ! SUMPA ng ULAN

Ninais kong pigilan
sumpa ng ulan
subalit hindi natinag
bingi at walang habag
ako'y kanyang tinangay
sa paraisong kawalan
upang damhin ang tamis
ng kanyang bawat patak
lumukob sa pagkatao ko
sumpa ng masidhing pag-ibig,
oh, bakit anong parusa ito!

Bawat patak
init sa akin ay hatak
sa dulot niyang pag-ibig
oh anong sarap
siya'y aking minasdan
ninamnam sa aking katauhan
sumpa ng ulan
aking niyakap, hinagkan
tuluyang pinagkatiwalaan!

Sa bawat tamis
katumbas ay pait
sumpa ng ulan
mapagkunwari minsan
nilulunod ka
sa lamig
pait ay nakakamit
walang patutunguhan
kundi poot at hinagpis!

Knows he who tills this lonely field
To reap its scanty corn,
What mystic fruit his acres yield
At midnight and at morn?
