Stranger Than Fiction Poem by Robert Dummett

Stranger Than Fiction

Sometimes I think
Dat nothin' in dis world is real:
Everything does pass
So fass,
An' leave meh like a drownin' man
Frantic to reach shore -
What for?
Ah can' seem to buckle down -
Ah can' seem to find meh call,
Wha' is dis at all?

Ah wonder sometimes
Where de hell ah hail from -
Wha ah doin' here?
then just sudden so -
Ah have a friend in fear.
He is de demon dat does cause your fall.

Partner, yuh ever see
Man grate he knee
And pray,
And in earnest say:
The Master is de way?
Well I do dat - hear?

Another time ah see a turning wheel,
An' sudden ah was in funk:
Ah thought dat I was drunk.
Only for a moment this happen,
But ah just couldn't understand
How dis wheel could transport meh
Into another land!
