'Still' Poem by Bernard Snyder

'Still'

Rating: 3.0

Truthfully, I wanted to be more than a friend to you
by now, that is probably an easy guess,
I wanted to fill your days and nights with joy
and never-ending happiness,
I wanted to listen to your sorrows
and replace your pain with thrills,
and if any of this were up to me
I'd want this whole thing still,
however, I know this isn't what you want right now
in your own little way it's been subtlely stated
it wouldn't have been fair to me to offer the world
and the feelings not be reciprocated.
