Stand Up For Love Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Stand Up For Love

there are times I want to lay in bed some mornings
keep from dealing with the problems of this world
everytime I leave for work there's something happening
Wish for once to see a world come together in harmony

it fills my heart with much sadness
Looking into the eyes of rage and madness
So much hate directed towards one race
it's a feeling I wish we could erase
such an emotion shouldn't have a place

there's no escaping it because it's everywhere
even felt towards anyone whose seen as different
Having to battle the war of adversity
it ain't easy living an in unkind world
that doesn't offer much solace or sympathy

love is love no matter the targeted crowd
Exhibiting hateful emotions seem to cloud
better judgement which keeps you blinded
as we're reminded
tomorrow is not promised to any of us
So let's make today a little better
and we'll be able to live without
the unnecessary prejudices
If we just stand up for love
