Spirit Poem by M.J. Lemon

Spirit

Rating: 4.9

The balance between left and right
Where guilty extremes grow contrite...
Is the spirit a purple thing?

As the body copes with aging
The veins and skull fill with raging
Is the spirit a purple thing?

If all stained glass ensnares pure love
Fervor, pride belong to faith above
Is the spirit a purple thing?

A warm softness gives forth the rock
And anguish rests upon a block
Is your spirit a purple thing?

Around the neck every Thursday
For the regal head it must stay
Is the spirit a purple thing?

Your mission to calm and to cure
Subverts, mystifies, the allure!
Is the spirit a purple thing?

Favoured by the young and mourning
it bestows a wartime warning
Is the spirit a perfect thing?

Is the spirit a purple thing? an interesting question is this. Purple symbolizes wisdom, magic and mystery. We feel all the three in that what we call a spirit. If wisdom is on the vertex and other other two at the vertices of the base it's wisdom that tries to control the triangle but often one of the two wheels of the chariot is slipped. so how the spirit can be a perfect thing? A poem is wonderful if it touches a heart or a brain both and its a touching poem.................10

I've heard that purple is the color of royalty. The spirit is royal! Thanks for lifting up our thoughts!

you pay attention to the art of writing in so many ways in this great poem. You gave it structure to give it strength. you gave it questions to give it rounds, cycles, and guidance, you gave it rhymes to flow into our hearts. And with these and beyond these you gave us provoking thoughts with which to pursue spirit. 10+++++++++

Thank you Susan...And yes, I did intend " Spirit' to reflect a cycle...strength to weakness, power to weakness, ailment to cure... Many thanks, Susan.

Perfection and balance such a difficult thing to achieve. But there is no peace without realizing some sort of harmony. Pleasure to read this lovely poem again.
