Souls For Sale Poem by Dee Daffodil

Souls For Sale

Rating: 5.0

The Devil decided
One dark dreary day
To have a garage sale..
He had bills to pay!

It would seem
He'd collected too many souls
And now, he had stuffed them
In various holes

He had thought about recycling
But what could be done
With a slimy drug dealer
Or a murdering one...

So he held a garage sale
Very few came
'Cept one noteworthy presence
With Universal fame

Yes, God arrived
And said to Satan
'I've got room in Heaven...
Their friends have been waitin''

Now Satan...
He had second thoughts you see
For giving up to God
Did not bring him glee

But in the end
The deal was signed
God adopted those souls
Satan left behind

Now God's plan was this
He was not so naive
After being in Hell,
They would surely believe

And true enough
They confessed their sin
The pearly gates opened
And beckoned them in

So the morale here,
Is quite clear, to be sure
One man's garbage...
Is another man's treasure

An interesting tale Dee: the Devil has a conscience - wants to pay his bills - and the underlying message about redemption! Cleverly devised and disguised theme. And entertaining. Excellent all round poem. jim xx
