Soulful Poem by Shruti Goswami

Soulful

Once I had
Soulful conversations
With someone I knew;
Whose dreams were young
And his love anew
The nights seemed short
With the soulful talks
Flowing like rivers
Moving mountains and heart
Yet slowly and surely
The dreams, the visions
Were clouded
Tolerance an unheard word.
They say
No matter how much
You read and fly
If you surround the self
With the wrong souls
You can't deny
The damage done.
Worse still
When the one I knew
Turned to those
And knew no boundaries
Nor the decency
Of human emotions
For small talks
And had no better purpose
I knew that the cause
And reason
For those conversations
Had been suitably buried
Under starry skies.
No longer do the nights
Seem endless
No longer do the walls whisper
Sweet nothings
Just goodbyes.
