Song: Approaching Spring Poem by Daniel Brick

Song: Approaching Spring

Rating: 5.0

To the sound of a deep melody
like the ancient circuit of the sea,
wise CHILD with summer's blood in your veins
here, in this cold northern country,
help me to remember what has been loved
and to dream of what will be loved.

To the sound of talk and tears
like the softest tones of Chopin's piano,
quiet GIRL hidden within lilac bushes
now, in this season of soil and rains,
come forth suffused in purple fragrance
and we will wander across marshes of moon grass.

To the sound of dawns and nightfalls
like the boisterous orchestra of March,
sweet WOMAN whose hands open the sun's doors
always, during the flights of deer and owl,
guide me into the gold light of June,
along a free-flowing stream pressed against familiar shores.

for my friends, Magdalena and Janusz

Thank you, Daniel! The story told by this poem is enchanting, scented, following the path of a child growing to be a girl and become a woman, every Spring! I hope that a child lives still inside every woman's heart, waiting secretly for the cranes, for the first blossoms, for the first kiss, for the first poem of love in Spring. Every Spring...Your poem is an icon of every child, girl, woman and I read it with a shhhh! Angels are talking! feeling in my heart. Blessed it be!

Absolutely loved this poem, such a gentle, tender rhythm it has. The imagery is fantasttically alluring. My favorite lines are: To the sound of a deep melody, like the ancient circuit of the sea. help me to remember what has been loved and to dream of what is to be loved. To the sound of talk and tears like the softest tones of Chopin's piano. To the sounds of dawns and nightfalls like the boisterous orchestra of March. They deeply resonated within my mind, I noticed that several lines have to do with music. i.e. deep melody, sound, softest tones, Chopin's piano, boisterous orchestra. Chopin is my all time favorite! A very beautiful lilting poem, very enjoyable. Thank you, RoseAnn

There is music flowing poetical and smoothly throughout each verse in this poem; each stanza opens with a sound, and obviously I could not omit to notice the child, the little girl growing to become a woman. It is lovely to read a poem written in that beautiful old-fashion note!
