Socks And Sandals Poem by Cory Fox

Socks And Sandals

To the Chiropractic team,

Currently viewing the screen,

I'm a faithful lad of twenty-two,

Of great charm and absence few,

And always held in high esteem.

The craigslist post you made before

Described the man you're looking for

As competent, organized, positive and smoke free.

With three AmeriCorps terms in my work history,

I have all these traits and more.

If a competent person is what you need,

For error-free work at a reasonable speed,

My days as the feeding department manager spent packing meals,

And reporting stats about our business deals

Are a perfect fit, I hope we're agreed.

For any professional, organization is key.

But for my kind of work, it's more of necessity.

Four jobs at once- two paid, two volunteer,

All this I maintained for over a year

With a calendar kept conflict-free!

Now, character demands a higher view

That college or skill alone could never do.

The drive to accept assignments gracefully

And the sense to speak with honesty

I will display at an interview.

And so for now- I bid you adieu.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I applied for a job that required 'personalized cover letters' and was clearly told nothing generic would be considered. Challenge accepted.
