Always There Poem by Cory Fox

Always There

I see her tears and part of me dies
And pray that hope is reflected in me
But the emptiness in those hazel eyes
Is the only reflection I see

Both slaves to time, we've been here before
Like the ebb and swell of the tide
Life's game is cruel and changes us both the more
But I'll always be there at her side

At last she looks up and gazes at me
I see the smallest curve of a smile
But unanswered the question- Are we yet free?
Step closer and say what we've known all the while

“Keep your head held high for this I swear,
Forever with you- Always There”
