Sleep Poem by Matt Burgett

Sleep

I'm tired and groggy
No sleep again so it seems
I want to sleep without the thoughts
I want to sleep without the dreams

I'm tired of all the pictures
How many pills do I have to take
How many until they all go away
How many until I finally go blank

I want a peaceful sleep
With silence in the air
Were I can drift off
Without a care

I'll take a pill for the pictures
And a pill for sound
A pill to blank out my mind
And a pill to put me in the ground

No thoughts will I see
For I'll be in too deep
No dreams to wake me
I'll finally get to sleep
