Sister Philomena And Me Poem by Marilyn Lott

Sister Philomena And Me

SISTER PHILOMENA AND ME

In case you didn't know her
You are in for a treat
I want you to meet a lady
That was truly so very sweet.

She wasn't just any lady though
For if you had known her you'd know
You would adore her just as I did
Even more I did love her so.

Every single get-together we'd have
I found a time out of the day
To sit beside her and just listen
It couldn't be any other way.

As a little girl I had big visions
Of me in a flowing dress
Regal I would be, of course
With a huge cross upon my chest.

But, alas, I was not catholic and so
It didn't happen to me
So when I married into this family
I met her delightfully.

Sitting by her side when she had to leave
It just didn't seem long enough
For I didn't have her for years and years
And so, my friend, it was very tough.

But someday I hope we meet again
Our visits once more will be
Long and sweet and lovely
Ah yes, just Sister Philomena and me.
