Simpler Times Poem by Barbara Culbertson

Simpler Times

As I lay here watching the stars
My mind wonders to days a far
To the days when life was simple
To the childhood thoughts & games
Playing horseshow in the yard
With mom as the judge
Catching fireflies in a jar
And watching them shine
Fishing at the pond
With a tree branch as a pole
Playing cowboys & indians
With sticks as a gun
The simpler times were better times
Where life was easier
And the mind was clear
Drinking water from the pump
And enjoying the coldness
Playing tag at dusk
Til we collapsed on the grass
Eating watermelon outsde
Spitting the seeds on the ground
Those times are all gone
But will never be forgotten
