Simple Advice Poem by Ontomu William

Simple Advice

It's all in the head
It's all in the mind
Do not seek amiss
You will never catch a star
You will never catch a shadow
Do not waste your time
In the meanders and jam
As the clock ticks
Ding dong the bell cries
And sooner, the earth won't be no more,
No, you won't be no more
What is man?
I wonder what I am!
A lily timed to dry
A flower timed to perish
It's all in the heart
Hold your heart
Feel the heat, the beat
Feel it beat slowly
With rhythmic pulses
That define uneasiness
Look at the gaping rift
Between you and peace
Listen to the small voice
Calling from afar
Yet closer than your heart
Behold the reckoning
Come, come!
Yet you relent
For fear of unknown,
Incomprehensible
The ravishing wolf
Has laid his trap
He's spread in the meadow
Waiting for his prey
Yet you follow the trail
That leads too well
Where the last victim succumbed
What folly Oh man!
Can make you walk that fast
To the abattoir?
Arise from your dream
And embrace the truth
The word in the world
Cling to the truth
And you will ne'er know decay
Oh you dying Lily!

Nice piece of work. What is man? Yes, we all return one day to the dust. Thanks for sharing this poem with us. E.K.L.
