Silence Poem by Santanu Karmakar

Silence

In front of lake, I was sitting quietly.
there was no sound, except the crickets, buzzing lightly.
It was about to be dark, when the sun kept descending
Still I had plenty time, to sit there for spending.

The forests were surrounding thick besides the lake,
rocks and mountains were seen far away, where we had no way to make.
A faint light I saw, twinkling at a distant place,
Suddenly then, I heard footsteps, as if someone making a chase.

It was not anyone, but my own self following me
In the silence, like the splashes of waves, on the sea.
The footsteps came near to me, and then disappeared
I realized then, that, no one else is there to be feared.
