Shouting John Poem by Dani Abstract

Shouting John

Shouting John, always in a suit and tie
Waves to everybody "hey" hugs everybody "bye"
But behind that big ole smile is an even bigger lie
Cause he kiss them girls and he make them cry
See now I knows your story, but Who is you really, Shouting John
He the first one up when they play them drums, and you'd think it's the Holy Ghost that makes him run
But truth be told, he just like to have fun
Catching the beat with them ten inch feet and them legs they get to moving so fast
And when the guitars playing them arms they get to swanging, he have all the chur'n laughing
And man he sho'l don't mind getting wild, especially when it make the pastor smile
Ummhmm, that's shouting John, look at him, there he go, always putting on a show
Jumping and stomping all over the floor, waving that big head to and fro
But what that dance mean to you shouting John, do you know?
I wonder is it really coming from your heart, or is you just playing another one of your parts
And doing what you think they expect you to do, tell me really shouting John…who are you?
Now back in the day the old men use to shout to set their soul free
See when the praise ain't fake them shackles got to break and them demons, they got to flee
You can't spend all day dancing on the devils head and feeding yourself wine and bread
And then when night come you want to dance in my bed
Uh, uh, uuuh…It don't work like that Shouting John, that ain't how you get no release
Ain't no deliverance in living like that, guess you can't be still because you ain't had no piece…
But you keep on dancing Shouting John cause one day you gone feel it
And everything you fighting against one day the good lord gone heal it
Shouting John, always in a suit and tie
Waves to everybody "hey" hugs everybody "bye"
But behind that big ole smile is an even bigger lie
Cause he kiss them girls and he make them cry
